My Daughter's Heart-a-Versary

Dear Friend:

Today, our 7-year old daughter Mahmooda celebrates her seven year “heart-a-versary” since she received life saving open heart surgery as a newborn. Mahmood has a rare congenital heart defect that was repaired in this procedure. She’s now a happy and healthy 1st grader and is seen here celebrating her birthday recently.

Mahmooda’s recovery was a little bumpy, but the one thing we didn’t worry about as we nursed her to health was health insurance because she was covered under an employer sponsored plan. But what if she - like many families throughout the country - did not have this as a choice?

Our daughter is strong and vibrant. It’s so important to me that families never have to worry about whether they can afford to save their child’s life when faced with a health challenge. For this reason, as a candidate for Congress, I support a single payer health option for all of our families.

Will you join me in fighting for a single payer health option by contributing to my campaign for the First Congressional District of Massachusetts?

Kind regards,

Tahirah Amatul-Wadud
